Spanish Quotes
“La manera mas baja de amar a la propia patria es odiar las patrias de otros hombres, como si todas no merecieran engendrar en sus hijos iguales sentimientos.”

Here are some COOL Illusions
I thought "Dr. Angry and Mr. Smiles" was a cool illusion. I also liked "Right Brain vs. Left Brain". Although that one may have seemed impossible at first, the woman can truly be seen rotating clockwise and counter-clockwise! It also took me a while to figure out the "Scary Illusion", but then all of a sudden it seemed so obvious. Just keep on staring and you'll see how.

Weather Report
Chilly weather will likely grip the Houston region for the new few days as a cold air settles in the area. The overnight lows may dip just below freezing in Houston later this week, but in rural areas north of the city near Conroe and Huntsville overnight temperatures will likely drop into the upper to mid 20s, according to the National Weather Service. Forecasters said the area gradually warms up through the weekend and a slight chance of showers is possible Sunday. Tuesday, the high temperature will top out near 48 degrees under cloudy skies. The overnight low will be about 34. North winds will be between 10 mph and 15 mph. Scattered drizzle is possible. Skies clear Wednesday, when the high will climb slightly to 51. But the overnight low dips to 31. Freezing temperatures are likely for several hours late at night, forecasters said. More sun is on tap and temperatures climb Thursday and Friday. The highs will range between the upper 50s and about 60 degrees. The overnight lows will be about 36. The mercury continues to climb on the weekend. The high Saturday and Sunday will be in the lower 60s under mostly to partly sunny skies. The lows will be between the lower and upper 40s. A 20 percent chance of showers is possible Sunday. Nationally, the most active weather will continue to be in the East on Tuesday due to a strong storm. This strong and wet storm will make its way through the eastern third of the country, spreading mostly rain from the Gulf Coast through the Northeast. The heaviest of this rain will fall in New England and the higher elevations of the Appalachians. In the colder air to the east of the storm, some snow showers will fall in western New England and may be enhanced by the relatively warm waters of the Great Lakes. Dry conditions are anticipated for much of the rest of the country, with the one exception being in the Southern Rockies where high elevation morning snow showers will give way to cool, but dry, conditions.

The average high and low for today in Bush Airport is 67/47, while the record low is 25 degrees Fahrenheit set In 1929. For weather updates in your area, go to AccuWeather.

Constitution Project!!!
Last Monday, I was assigned by my U.S. History teacher to complete a project dealing with the Seven Principles of the Constitution. I had to find articles from online sources or newspapers associated with the principles. Currently, I am searching through Google and online newspapers. If you have a great article to share with me, please post it as a link in the comments section. I would also greatly appreciate any suggestions or comments you wish to share with me. My project is due on the 21 of November so my time is limited! These are the Seven Principles:
- Popular Sovereignty
- Limited Government
- Separation of Powers
- Checks and Balances
- Federalism
- Republicanism
- Individual Rights

Freezing Temperature in Houston!
This morning, there was a thin layer of ice covering my dad's car! I could also see my breath in the air. Reaching temperatures around freezing is uncommon in Houston, especially as early as November.
Eric Berger wrote on Houston Chronicle’s SciGuy:
Eric Berger wrote on Houston Chronicle’s SciGuy:
“Parts of the Houston region froze on Friday morning, including Angleton, Cleveland, and Conroe. It’s really early for this. According to NOAA, there’s just a 10 percent chance of Houston (in this case, Bush Intercontinental Airport) recording a freeze during any given year before Nov. 5. For Hobby Airport, the corresponding date is Nov. 17. But when the air is dry, it cools quicker.”

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Temperatures in Houston have been below normal the past few days after a strong cold front came through. Yesterday, the temperatures dipped into the 40's and only reached around 60 in the afternoon. The skies were dark and overcast. This is unexpected of Houston because temperatures reached into the mid-eighties the days before the front came through. The strong gale-force winds also made the air feel significantly colder. Up in the northern counties of Texas, residents enjoyed several inches of snow. An early snowstorm also bought up to a foot of snow in the northeast United States. Today, the Houston Chronicle states our forecast is 71/49 with perfectly clear skies. I hoped you enjoyed the weather, Houston!

Thunderstorms in Houston
It was raining heavily earlier this morning, and I woke up a 5 AM to lightning and thunder. Then I went to my sister's room, where the rain was so deafening it was like standing in the middle of a car wash. The rain didn't let up, so I couldn't fall back asleep. I had to go downstairs at 6 to eat breakfast. Right now, everything has cleared up and it is sunny outside.

Cooler Temperatures!
After a long and brutal summer, Houston finally got a cool-down. It reached into the lower sixties this morning (high 90, low 63 according to the Houston Chronicle). This a really cool compared to temperatures surpassing one hundred degrees we've had this summer. We broke many records, including a drought record. Although we missed a good chance of rain a couple days ago, the low temperatures definitely made up for it. In fact, Houston is forcasted to continue its trend this week. Our Pet Ducks!!!
By Timothy
I have a REAL duck I named E.P. His real name is Easter Plush Duck and I found him on the street along with my other ducks, P.P., C.P., C.C. P.D., E.E., and E.C. on March 28, 2008. Rachel and I were walking on a hot sunny day in our waterfront neighborhood, when we saw several ducks waddling across. They were speaking a strange language to each other. Then I saw a small cute duck. I petted him and right away, we knew that we had found the right home for them. So I ran back and brought a huge cage with me. Rachel and I coaxed the small ducklings into the cage, and brought it home. They have been our pets since then.
Our oldest duck, P.P., shows traits of aggressiveness and jealousy when he is not treated the same as others. His greatest enemy is E.P. He, despite his rude demeanor, managed to befriend P.D. P.D. is the second oldest duck. He is a follower of P.P.'s mischief and jokes, but is usually not the one to lead a prank. E.P. is the weakest duck among all of the ducks. He has a special bond with Rachel and he desires a lot of tender care. Unlike his fellow siblings, he has a darker yellow coat. C.C. is E.P.'s best friend. She is a wild, active duck who loves attention and is a great thinker. C.P. has the second darkest coat. He is a quiet well-mannered duck who is greatly attracted to shiny metal, especially rings. E.E. and E.C. are best friends are also shy, but they are very positive and tend to see the better side of everyone. Rachel and I are truly fortunate to be blessed with such wonderful, playful ducks. It has been a joy to see them grow and mature every day and we look foward to hearing your stories about your pets! Please comment!

What Tim Likes
Well, I like photography. I have two camcorders and several cameras. None of them are close to even semi-professional. The best camcorder I have is this DXG-571V. It captures only standard definition 480p resolution video. But our family also got a used Sony DCR-TRV310 camcorder that uses the old Digital8 Cassette Tapes. It is very bulky, but has some features found on more expensive camcorders. It has manual focus, dubbing capabilities, AFM HiFi Sound, a 3.0 in LCD rotatable display panel, an IR receiver, a fading function, a special effects on your recorded video. The two better cameras I have are the Kodak Easyshare M1063 that take 10.2 MP pictures with Image Stabilization, and a $70 Vivitar Camera. I want to improve my photography skills and upgrade to a better camera. One camera I like is the Canon Powershot SX210-IS. It sells for $200, and its slim package includes 14.1 MP Resolution, a 14x 28mm wide-angle zoom lens
with 14x optical zoom, many shooting modes for any occasion, Intelligent Contrast Correction Technology, and low light settings.

It SNOWED in Hot Houston!
On December 4, 2009, it snowed 2 inches in the Houston Metropolitan Area! The day started in the mid 40's with cloudy skies. Soon rain began falling which then mixed with sleet and snow. By the time we came home from school at 4:40, there was a white blanket outside! We were excited but the next day called for clear, sunny skies, which melted all that was left.
On February 3, 2011, our school was released early due to the prediction of cold temperatures and snow. Classes were also canceled the next day. We were excited, and the forecast predicted snow to begin around midnight. We went out at night, to experience the joy of snowflakes fluttering on our faces. We could not wait until the next morning. Our happiness faded away when we realized that there was only ice. But we relished the cold temperatures, which came in as a treat for hot Houston.
